Angela's MKE Gift Guide

Posted by Angela Heglund on

I pride myself on being a fantastic gift giver. Like... the best. What makes an excellent gift giver, is being a prepared gift giver.

Throughout the year, I keep a list of everything my friends and family express interest in. Once we approach the holiday season, I refine that list by sneakily sprinkling the items or activities into conversations to make sure they’re still interested. This not only saves me from scrambling for last minute gifts, but also saves me from wasting my hard earned dough on something they don’t actually want. This year, I am pairing my favorite Green Life gifts with items from other Milwaukee shops to create memorable experiences for my loved ones.

Drink Up MKE (products only found in our MKE location…for now)

For the people in your life that you may not be able to physically spend the holidays with, one of my go-to gift ideas is thrifting the funniest, silliest, most chaotic mug and pairing it with our bulk Anodyne coffee and a Coffeesock or for the tea drinkers, bulk Rishi tea (along with a cute tea steeper.

The Self Care Seeker

For the people in your life that deserve a self-care night to themselves, create the most luxurious night of relaxation with a Fresh Eucalyptus from Whole Foods, or Trader Joe’s, paired with a tin of bath soak, a bottle of bubble bath, and a lotion bar to finish it all off.

Gettin’ Thrifty

For the expert thrifters in your life will love the Viren Apothecary Laundry Stripping Bomb paired with a Goodwill gift card. These laundry stripping bombs are MAGIC and they’ll remove whatever may be left behind from your thrifted item’s previous life.

The Perfect Stocking Stuffer

If you’re looking for a lil’ somethin to pop into a stocking this year- lip balm, reusable facial rounds, soap saver pouf paired with a perennial soap of your choosing, or a winter survival kit are the perfect lil something.

The Eco Newbie

And finally for that person who wants to be more sustainable but has no clue where to start. A Swedish dishcloth (replaces 17 rolls of paper towel) not only saves on waste but saves you so much money and they’re completely compostable at the end of their life! A safety razor is another small switch that saves so much waste and money in the long term. Our Laundry Sampler is a fabulous gift for someone that doesn’t know about all of the zero waste laundry options. Finally, to replace dryer sheets use a couple of our wool dryer balls, along with our dryer ball spray, is a great way to cut out waste and save money.
